Today I present you, the loyal reader and hopefully prospective music junkie, with an amazing release: legendary percussionist Steve Reid's absolutely incredible 1994 debut album, Bamboo Forest. I picked up this album at a local independent used book store for $1.50 USD. The cover just looked too awesome to pass up, and I am certainly glad I didn't, as this album went on to blow my mind repeatedly over the following months. It is a fresh and delicious mix of contemporary Jazz, World Beat, and New Age. Everything, from the musicianship to the production, is outstanding, and is definitely worth a listen even if you know nothing the aforementioned genres.
